What is Wireless Internet Service?
|
What is Wireless Internet Access? Spectral's internet service is a broadband always-on type of service. Average connection speeds are around 1Mbs, compared to dial up at 56k. We are even faster than DSL in most instances. The connection to the PC is through any one of the following: Ethernet port, USB port, or Spare PCI slot. Spectral provides high speed internet access for both business and residential use. It does this using 802.11b standards in the 2.4ghz range. These connections need to be "line of sight" with Spectral's network transmitters. A representative will come on site and do a free "survey" to identify any issues and determine if you are able to receive our signal. Survey's are always free of charge, just give us a call to schedule one. What is involved in an installation? There are many factors involved in an installation, and it depends upon what a customer wants. Basically, it involves installing a small antenna upon the building and then running a cable (antenna wire or ethernet) to the PC. It is very similar to a satellite TV install. The antenna's vary in size and rangefrom 4" x 4" up to sizes similar to satellite TV dishes. The antenna used is determined by a free site survey in which a representative will come on site to determine your access ability. How much does the installation cost? The service costs $49.99 per month plus an initial installation cost. Installation costs vary depending upon each specific install. We offer services to completely network your home/business computer, multiple computers, or we can setup wireless access throughout the home/business. Basic residential installation typically starts around $250 to $300 dollars. Business customers should call us for a quote.
